Together with the Centre on Conflict,
Development and Peacebuilding (CCDP) of the Graduate
Institute of International and Development Studies and the Quaker
United Nations Office, UNIDIR organizes an ongoing discussion
series known as the
Geneva Forum.
The Geneva Forum is an intellectual space in
which expertise on a broad range of disarmament issues is shared
among government delegates, United Nations personnel, NGOs, international
media and academics. Experts from the disarmament, development,
human rights and humanitarian communities are regularly invited
to share their knowledge in briefings, seminars and workshops in
order to enable discussion on their common interests in security
and disarmament issues and to explore possibilities for co-ordination
and collaboration. Such meetings provide policy-makers with valuable
opportunities to benefit from expert knowledge and to interact with
one another in a relatively informal atmosphere.

Media Guide
The Geneva Forum values the crucial role played by
the media in raising awareness about disarmament issues, and recognizes
the importance of having up-to-date information at hand. The Geneva
Forum's Media Guide to Disarmament and Arms Control is a
succinct and practical tool to facilitate the work of media professionals
by linking them with key sources of information. It represents a
dynamic contribution to reporting on disarmament and security.
The Media Guide to Disarmament and Arms Control
includes contact information for hundreds of experts in disarmament,
arms control and security issues who have agreed to act as points
of reference for media enquiries. The Media Guide is organized
both by theme and by region. A list of useful Internet links for
background information is included as well as a calendar of international
disarmament conferences and events. The Media Guide will
be updated regularly.
